As part of the ongoing work on the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme, from Sunday 29th July to Saturday 25th August, the westbound carriageway will be reduced to a single lane.

The works to widen the road and create a third lane between Raynesway and the Wyvern Junction will involve the diversion of services in the verge and the construction of a new wall to retain the existing embankment.

To keep disruption to a minimum, work is taking place during the school summer holidays when traffic flows are lighter than normal. From Sunday 29th July, work will take place during the day, and also overnight, Monday to Friday from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Lane restrictions will be removed on Sunday 26th August, with night time road closures continuing until mid-November.

On football match evenings night time closures will not be implemented until 11.00 pm to minimise disruption.

When the road is closed traffic will be diverted along Derby Road and Nottingham Road.

Councillor Matthew Holmes, Cabinet Member for Leadership, Regeneration and Public Protection said:

“We have been working very hard to get the A52 Wyvern Improvement Scheme back on track and when completed it will help to reduce congestion, improve journey times, reliability and help deliver sustainable travel options.

A project of this size and complexity will inevitably create disruption and I would personally like to thank motorists, residents and local businesses for their continued patience during this time. I would like them to know that the Council is doing everything it can to deliver this project in a timely manner that keeps disruption to a minimum.”
