The latest mobile phone technology is now being used by yourbus to make it easier than ever to pay for travel on the bus. What’s more, to launch the new initiative adult week and 4 week tickets will be available at half-price throughout January when customers sign up online.

The local bus operator is now able to offer its customers a mobile ticketing solution which means they can buy their tickets in advance using a laptop or mobile device.

The range of yourbus city and network tickets for adults and students can be bought in advance – including day, weekly and monthly tickets.  It’s really easy to sign up and there are no admin or extra costs involved.

Once a ticket has been selected, customers can choose to pay using a debit or credit card or even PayPal. When the transaction is completed, the ticket is instantly downloaded and can be stored directly on the mobile phone to show the driver when travelling.

Sarah Taylor, Commercial & Marketing Manager, explained:  “All customers need to do is register online at my mobile tickets using their mobile phone number and a unique password.

“To celebrate the launch we are offering half-price adult week and 4 week tickets across all our services.  Once registered an automatic verification code is sent via text to complete the sign-up process and customers are asked to upload a photo when they first buy a ticket. They only need to do this once, and to buy further tickets they just have to log on and make the payment.

“Having signed up and paid online, they can simply travel as normal and show their ticket on their mobile to the driver,” Sarah said. “There’s now no need for our customers to worry about carrying cash or having the right money available to pay for their fare.

“We’re always looking at ways to make travelling with yourbus even easier and more convenient for our customers and we hope that this new way to pay for travel will prove to be extremely popular.”
