Repair works to start at Queen’s Leisure Centre

Derby City Council signed a contract yesterday (25th April 2016) with Bowmer & Kirkland to carry out repair work at Queen’s Leisure Centre, to make the building safe. The contract is for a value of approximately, £450,000 this will be funded from the Council’s risk reserves.

From today (Tuesday 26th April), the road immediately outside of Queen’s Leisure Centre (Cathedral Road) will be closed to traffic from 12.00 noon. Security fences and protective matting for cranes will be installed during Tuesday and Wednesday.

Cranes are planned to arrive on Wednesday and Thursday. The road closure will be in place until Monday 20th June. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work, with alternative bus routes in place and clearly signed diversions for other traffic.  A map showing diversions is available to view.

A temporary bus stop will be set up on Bold Lane.

Affected routes included Notts & Derby Service 17 and 17A to/from Duffield and Darley Abbey, and Your Bus service 114 to/from Kedleston and Ashbourne.
