Essential road maintenance to Derby’s section of the A52 (Brian Clough Way), will start on Monday evening (18th July).

Work will run until Thursday 28 July and will include resurfacing, gully maintenance, street lighting maintenance, barrier repairs and street cleansing. The work will be carried out by the Council’s Streetpride Teams.

To minimise disruption to the travelling public, work will be carried out in phases and only take place between the hours of 8.00pm to 5.00am. Some road closures will be necessary and diversion routes will be in operation at these times. Outside of the working hours all roads will be open as usual.

Timetable of work:

  • 18, 19, 20 and 21 July – between Pentagon Island and the ASDA Spondon Island (Eastbound)
  • 25, 26, 27 and 28 July – between ASDA Spondon Island and Pentagon island (Westbound)

Councillor Asaf Afzal, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Highways, said “The essential work to this section of the A52 will bring about a vast improvement to a vital section of Derby’s road networks which is a key gateway to the city. Doing the works at night will minimise any inconvenience to road users. Reduced congestion and safer roads contribute to an improved quality of life for local people.”
