Local charity, Life Cycle Derby is supporting key workers to cycle to work.

To qualify, key workers should apply online through Life Cycle’s website

Key workers can have up to £80 worth of work carried out on their bike, which includes labour and a contribution towards parts. In most cases this will be more than enough to get bikes roadworthy and running smoothly again.

As part of the service, key workers can also get a free Personalised Travel Plan from Life Cycle’s partners, Sustrans. This includes help finding the best routes to work and cycling tips and advice.

Jon Hughes, Life Cycle Derby’s Manager, said:

“A five-mile journey to work takes no more than 30 minutes to cycle at a gentle pace. During the COVID 19 crisis we want to encourage key workers to dust off their bikes and take advantage of the health, environmental and cost benefits. We’re honoured to support them by making sure their bikes are safe and enjoyable to ride”.

Life Cycle is also offering free bikes to Derbyshire-based key workers who don’t have access to secure transport arrangements – thanks to Derbyshire’s Wheels to Work scheme. Details about how to apply are online

Life Cycle are keen to stress that they are following strict hygiene and safe systems of work protocols, to protect staff and customers. For this reason, their workshop is not open for drop-ins and all work is by appointment only.
