September 23rd 2019

Derby City Council will be carrying out road improvements at Nottingham Road, between Pentagon and Wiltshire Road.

The work will begin on Monday 23rd September and last for ten weeks until Friday 29th November.

It will include repairs to drains, renewing manhole covers and the replacement of approximately 10,100 square metres of road surface and road markings. The road has seen significant deterioration, so binder course and geogrid will be installed to provide additional rigidity to this heavily used route, once we have planed off the existing surface.

We appreciate this type of work is disruptive and journeys will be delayed. Our main aim is to get the work completed as quickly and safely as possible. As a key route into the city, it is important however that we keep this road working and traffic moving.

Working off-peak will lessen the impact of the scheme during the busy parts of the day and so the road will only be closed at off-peak times, from 9.30am – 3.30pm, and from 7.00pm until midnight, Monday to Friday each week

Work will be carried out in a phased approach to reduce disruption (see the phased plan in the download section) This is the safest way to carry out the work, whilst maintaining access. A signed diversion route will be in place. We will do our best to make sure all properties directly affected by the work can be accessed with minimum disruption.

There will be Traffic Marshals to direct traffic and assist you. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Local businesses will be open throughout the work and access will be available.

If you have any questions regarding the scheme itself, please contact us at highways.maintenance@derby.gov.uk
