Connected businesses were once again recognised for their commitment and efforts in promoting and encouraging staff and visitors to use sustainable transport at our annual Connected Business Awards.

In addition, four special Connected achievement awards were presented to individuals and businesses who have excelled in their commitment to the programme to encourage staff to travel more sustainably over the past 12 months. Congratulations to the winners of this year’s awards:

Connected Small Employment Site of the Year – EPM Technology Grouop

EPM Technology Group relocated from Draycott to a new manufacturing research and development centre on Raynesway in 2014.  As part of EPM Technology’s relocation they successfully applied for a Connected grant to pay towards the cost of a secure cycle shelter.  Their match funding was used to install shower and changing facilities at the site.

Connected Large Employment Site of the Year: Interfleet Technology

DSC_0930Over the last two years Interfleet has demonstrated its commitment to Connected, offering their staff personal travel planning, bus taster tickets, and on-site bike maintenance.  In June 2014, Interfleet were the winning large organisation in the Derby Commuter Challenge.  A £17,000 Connected grant contributed to the refurbishment of showers, changing facilities, security cameras and a brand new cycle shelter at their Pride Park office.

Connected Travel Initiative of the Year: Derby College
DSC_0935In 2014 Derby College launched a dedicated Facebook page to provide staff and students with information about transport to and from the college.  The Facebook page regularly posts updates from local bus operators, Cycle Derby and Connected initiatives.

Connected Travel Champion of the Year: Andrea Shaw, Derby Hospitals NHS Trust Foundation

DSC_0939Andrea continues to drive forward sustainable transport at Derby Hospitals and is the focal point for all enquiries.  her knowledge onlocal sustainable travel is second to none.

Andrea’s ‘can do’ attitude in assisting others with planning their travel options is infectious, and she has worked hard to build up and maintain good relationships with key local stakeholders and businesses.
