A bike won’t just keep running on forever, it needs a bit of TLC every now and again. Brake pads need changing, the chain needs oiling and the tyres will need replacing every so often. None of these things cost very much money but are essential if you want to prolong the life of your bike.
You can service your bike yourself easily enough, and there are loads of ‘how to’ videos on YouTube. If you don’t fancy getting greasy hands, get it booked into one of the city’s cycle shops as they all offer servicing and repairs.
If you think there is something up with your bike, don’t risk it, get it looked at!
Repairing a Puncture
The most basic of problems you will encounter when out and about on a bike is the occasional puncture. They don’t have to ruin your day (although they are quite annoying).
Make sure you have all the tools you need on you (mainly a spare inner tube, tyre levers and a pump) whenever you’re out on a bike and you’ll be fine.
Print off our Easy Guide to Replacing an Inner Tube and keep it in your cycle bag. One day you might need it!
