I’m a Director of a company and switched to cycling to work around 6 years ago, following advice from my doctor. He told me that it was essential for my health to build more exercise into my busy, but increasingly sedentary lifestyle.  Taking up a sport or going to the gym weren’t really practical with so many work and family commitments, so I switched to cycling the 7 miles to and from work, rather than using the car. Jon CyclingI can’t believe how much better I feel for cycling each day – I’ve lost nearly 2 stone in weight and reduced my cholesterol levels, not to mention the time and money savings I make each day.  The cycle to work clears my head ready for the upcoming day, and in the evening I can wind down on the ride home, and get ready to spend some time with my family.

I reckon the bike paid for itself in the first six months, and in the last 2 years I have even bought an electric bike for the times I need to go straight to a meeting from home, enabling me to arrive in a suit without breaking into a sweat!

What has been really interesting is the response from other people in the office, who have seen and heard the benefits resulting from my transition to becoming a cyclist, and have switched to cycling themselves.  Everyone should give it a go!
