What is the Spectrum smart card?

The Spectrum smart card is the new way of buying all day multi operator bus travel in Derby

How do I get a Spectrum smart card?

Cards are available from the bus station information office which is open from 8.30am-5.30pm Monday to Saturday and from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Sundays and bank holidays

How will it work?

Customers can load up to ten days separate days worth of travel onto the card to use when ever they want either at the bus station information office or on Arriva, trentbarton, Notts and Derby or Kinch Bus services. Customers can then continue to top up additional days onto their card either at the bus station or on the bus as they want.

At the start of each new day of travel, customers will simply need to place their Spectrum card on the bus ticket machine to activate that days travel. There is no need to touch off when you get off the bus.

Every time you board a new bus service during the day, you will need to do the same thing. You can use the different days of travel flexibly whenever you need them.

How much will it cost?

A days’ worth of travel costs £5.80 for adults and £3.80 for children and young people with B line cards.

What bus services can I use it on?

Any bus operated by Arriva, trentbarton, Notts and Derby, Kinch Bus and Yourbus in the Derby City area only and the built up area of South Derbyshire immediately adjacent to the boundary of Shardlow Road and Stenson Fields, with the following exceptions:

  • Travel outside of the city boundary

  • X38 – operated by Arriva and trentbarton
  • Red Arrow, Zoom and 6X – operated by trentbarton
  • All trentbarton services departing from the city centre after midnight and before 5am

Can anybody use my Spectrum smart card?

How much money can I put on my Spectrum smart card?
