Arshad, works at Derby City Council.

“My walk to and from work is a good way of allowing me to clear my head”

Arshad Mahmood has been walking to work at the City Council from him home in Normanton for nearly 3 years. Although he does use the car out of work, he tries to walk as much as he can because of the benefits to his health and the fact that it is stress-free. There are no traffic jams, road rage or car problems when on foot. He also has no fuel costs and doesn’t have to worry about parking. He can also do other things while walking such as listening to his phone and enables him to run errands and do the shopping easily on the way home.

Arshad took part in the 2014 Commuter Challenge and won the prize for most walking journeys, burning off nearly 4,500 calories in the process.
